But in the eyes of interior designer Simon Chong, it is interesting to handle the relationship between environment, space and human.

The concept that art advocates life now enjoys popular support. Graduated from the University of Nottingham, Simon Chong was deeply influenced by the aesthetic edification of his family antique shop from childhood and forged the indissoluble bond with aesthetic art. When studying in Europe he traveled about every big famous historical city and subdued by the western classical art design. After graduation, he resolutely resigned from the high-paying position of JP Morgan Chase. In the early 90s he founded his first design companies in Hong Kong. Thanks to his recent 20 years' rich interior design experience, the respect and love for Chinese national culture and his own perception to modern internationaltrend, he formed his unique style in interior design.

"Restrained and amazing" is a kind of temperament reflected in his works, while the gentleman's manner of low-key, modest and polite he had represents the fusion of the culture of Chinese and western.



Perfect originates from the details

"Good design works can not only have just one or two highlights, but have its attraction in every respect." Simon Chong's persistence on pursuing perfect in his works and the honor of the 12th "Golden Horse Awards" of the China hotel design organization —Yunnan Sheng Shiwan and the hotel are the best annotations of Simon Chong's design style. The key of the interior design of Shengshi Qianhe hotel is its structure. This kind of design inspiration originates from the initial feeling of building appearance. The middle of the hotel lobby modeling, the vault of the banquet hall and buffet circular modeling decorated with mirrors performs incisively and vividly the mightiness and dignity of Chinese building. Clever using of new building materials such as color glass, stone carving, and high strength lifting glue serif adds rich and multiple factors to his design style.

Details are often the easiest to be ignored in the design, but a designer pursuing perfect values every detail. Even a little bit of negligence and inobservance can also greatly discount an amazing art work. It is also the accumulation of every detail that makes such a work "an art work" and makes every inch of it attract people. Situated at the peak of the Plantation Road, the deluxe villa possesses the Victorianextravagance, perfuming quietness and nobility. Also as one of his own favorite works, the mansion is regarded by him as a house of his own during its designing and it is also the most expressive one of his personal style—a remark of him. Aristocratic flower pattern is carved on its exposed marble wall, thus becoming tasteful and grand murals with artistic sense. Chinese classical hollow sculpture is employed as a barrier dividing the parlor into two parts, which creates low-profile and balanced ambience. The design of crystal chandeliers and walls all reveal the Victorian artistic style. The most distinctive design is that the Victoria Harbor view can be overlooked from every angle. The dominant hue of interior decoration is blue, radiating a warm atmosphere and unreserved qualities. When we reside in such a house, the environment, the space, the human body and mind are unified into one.

完美出自细节

“一部好的设计作品不能只有一两个亮点，而是每个地方都有吸引人之处”对完美的追求是郑树芬在作品中不懈的坚持，荣获第12届中国饭店设计机构金马奖的云南晟世仟和大酒店就是对郑树芬设计风格的最好诠释。晟世仟和大酒店室内设计部分以结构为重点，这种设计灵感来源于对建筑物外形最初的感觉。酒店大堂造型、宴会厅的穹顶天花、自助餐的圆形造型天花，中间以镜面装饰，将中国建筑的大气与尊贵表现的淋漓尽致。而彩色玻璃、石材雕刻、高强吊胶饰线等新型建筑材料的巧妙使用，为他的设计风格添加了丰富多元的因素。

“设计是一桩好玩的事情”这句话郑树芬经常挂在嘴边，他认为空间中物与物的排列组合是件特别有趣的事情。

香港山顶种植道别墅豪华大宅，有着英式维多利亚的贵气，华丽中透出恬静与高贵。也是郑树芬自己最喜爱的作品之一，他说在设计这个住宅的时候是把它当做自己的房子在设计，当然也是最能体现他个人风格的作品。大宅的外墙，在充满粗犷感的大理石上雕刻贵族花卉图案，遂成别有艺术感的壁画装饰，雅致而又大气。中式古典的镂空雕刻作为屏障将客厅一分为二，低调沉稳。水晶吊灯和墙壁的设计无不透露出维多利亚英式的艺术风格，最具特色的是每一个角度都可远眺维多利亚海港景色。为呼应窗外维多利亚海港的美景，室内的装饰以蓝色为主色调，把一种温馨的氛围和毫无保留的气质流露出来。住在这样的房间里，环境、空间与人的身心也达到了统一。

在至今完成无数个国际精品的项目中，郑树芬懂得如何在千变万化的设计中融入先进的科学技术以满足现代人对生活品质的高要求，并力求通过新颖环保的材料营造特别的效果和氛围。“现代比较流行的设计就是对环保材料的运用，也只有这样，人类的居住环境才会越来越好。”郑树芬这样说道。设计师不仅仅是满足人对居住的需求，同时也应当引领先进的居住理念。
